U13′s James Young Memorial Cup 1st Rnd – Kello Wanderers 0 Ayr Boswell 6
After last weeks disappointing performance against Tass Thistle Rovers in the Scottish Cup the U13′s were drawn away to Kello Wanderers at Sanquhar in the 1st rnd of the James Young Memorial Cup, Saturday 3 October 2009. Last week was the poorest we have played all season although take nothing away from Tass who were the better team on the day and deserved winners. A better performance was expected against Kello and the boys made the trip to Sanquhar in terrible conditions.
The game was played in nothing short of a hurricane, with gale force winds, rain, sleet, hail and even sunshine (albeit briefly) making it difficult for both teams . However, on a superb pitch the boys played better than expected in the tough conditions and playing into the wind in the first half missed a number of chances to take the lead. Jordan Barr scored the only goal of the first half with a long range strike and, in the 2nd half, goals from Houston (2) Croke (2) and Henderson made the final score 0-6. A great result and performance given the weather, well done.
Next game for the U13′s is Home to Valspar Colts Saturday 10 October 2009 at KG5
Ayr Boswell Scorers
Barr, Houston (2), Henderson, Croke (2)

Horrendous conditions for both teams on the day but a really great result for the boys. Round 2 here we come.
